DETAILS OF FOUR YEAR DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP.
Scholarship worth: $18,200 yearly to awarded students.
Degree level: Doctoral
Deadline: December 2024
Available for: Canadian students, permanent residents, and all international students.
Duration: 4 yearsÂ
Selection for this scholarship will be mainly based on the academic performance of the applicants, those with excellent performance will be awarded.
ELIGIBILITY FOR 4YF
To be eligible for the 4YF scholarship applicants meet the following criteriaÂ
- Students Applying for a 4YF scholarship should be a full-time MDPhD, PhD, or DMA and they should be in their first year studying the aforementioned degrees.
- Doctoral applicants that have gotten the Tri-Agency scholarship are qualified to apply but they are only required to start receiving their funding immediately when their Tri-Agency scholarship ends.
- Also, if the applicant of the four year doctoral fellowship is holding another external scholarship they can still apply for a four-year doctoral fellowship but can only benefit from it immediately if the external scholarship they previously received has expired.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTSÂ
The academic requirements are based on the applicant’s country, each country has its academic requirements their students should meet or submit.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR CANADIAN STUDENTS.
- Masters program: Canadian Students applying for master’s program at UBC should meet the following academic requirementsÂ
- They should be a 4-year bachelor’s degree holder.
- Applicants should have a minimum of 12 credits standing degrees in a 3-4 year course, with an 80% or higher grade range in the field they are studying.
- They should meet up with the minimum average of B+ in any 3-4 year course.
Even if a Canadian student didn’t meet the aforementioned academic requirements, they have other relevant training or professional experiences needed for the program they are applying for.
They can be granted admission only through recommendation and they need to be approved directly by the Dean of the faculty.

Doctorate program requirements:
- Canadian applicants for a four-year doctoral degree at UBC should provide the following academic requirements.
Applicants for master’s degree should be in the following courses:Â
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Doctor of Music (D.M.A)
- Doctor of Education (Ed.D).
PhD Applicants should possess a master’s degree or equivalent to one from one of thereputable universities and also should have the ability to conduct research. Same with D.M.A. they must have a master’s degree from a good institution.
English proof is not required for Canadian applicants.
Applicants should have a first-class standing in bachelor’s degree and are currently enrolled in a 500-level or first year of the master’s degree program. Even if the applicants for a doctorate have reached half a year in their Master’s degree they must score the minimum of 12 credits with the average of a first-class.

- Obtaining a first class in teacher training (PhD Elementary Education).
- Professional experience of 5 years and obtaining a first class in any prerequisite work. (Ed.D)
- Must have exceptional skill in composition or performance.
- A very clear evidence that certifies the applicants can perform research.
Note:Â All Applicants can transfer directly into a Doctoral degree after finishing their first year of master’s degree but you can’t transfer after completing the second year.
